Winship House Interior Renovation
216 W. Portland St.

Dr. Werter D. Shackelford and Sara T. Shackelford moved into the house in 1919. The rich textures of the wood shingle roof and the natural red brick combined with attractive gable details such as dentils and half-timbering, to create a singularly fine example of a house in the Arts and Crafts Movement.

August 22, 1923 Fred E. Winship, president of the Peoples Loan and Investment Company, later called Winship Loan Plan Company.

Construction modifications occurred in 1930, 1947, 1949 in late 1980's converted to a multiple family dwelling at which time the interior was modified to add many walls. The exterior of the house is largely as it was originally constructed, including original wood windows and trim. 

This facility will host the staff for Japanese Friendship Garde, Camp Colley Foundation and Parks Foundation.
