Emily and mom

On November 28, 2012, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Phoenix Police responded to Phoenix Children’s Hospital regarding a call of a “check welfare”.  Upon arriving the officers were advised of the following:
Emily, an 11 year old Hispanic female, was brought into the hospital by her parents to receive treatment for leukemia.  During treatment, a chest catheter was placed into her heart.  In addition, the 11 year old had to have her arm amputated due to infection.
For unknown reasons, the mother of the 11 year old decided to remove the IV from the catheter, changed the child’s clothing, and walked her out of the hospital.  We have been informed by medical personnel if the catheter is not medically removed the victim’s heart could potentially become infected resulting in the child’s death.
Detectives have made every effort to locate the 11 year old and her family to no avail.  It is imperative anyone with information as to the whereabouts of these individuals contact Phoenix Police at 602-262-6151.
The primary concern of our detectives is the welfare of the 11 year old victim.
