Officer Daryl RaetzFuneral Procession for Officer Raetz

To facilitate the funeral procession of Phoenix Police Officer Daryl Raetz, the following road closures will be in place.

Saturday May 25th, 2013, approximately 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Start: 7007 W. Happy Valley Road

West from 7000 W. Happy Valley Road to 67th Avenue,

South on 67th Avenue to SR 101,

East on SR 101 to 7th Street,

North on 7th Street, to the westbound SR 101 Frontage Road,

Westbound on SR 101 Frontage Road to the Phoenix Memorial Cemetery at 200 W. Beardsley.

PLEASE NOTE:  As the last of the procession passes the various check points, the roads will be re-opened.  However, please expect significant delays from approximately 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

In addition, the westbound SR 101 frontage road from 7th Street to 7th Avenue from approximately 10:00 a.m. until the internment ceremony concludes at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Phoenix Police mourn the death of Officer Daryl Raetz, #8899

Shortly after 3:30 a.m. on May 19, 2013, Officer Daryl Raetz, #8899 and his partner were finishing the processing of the scene from a DUI stop in the area of 51st Avenue and Cambridge.  At that time, Officer Raetz was struck by another vehicle, which was traveling northbound on 51st Avenue.  Officer Raetz was transported to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The Phoenix Police Department has prepared a brochure to share with the community called "Policing with a Purpose."

 "Too Young to Drink" Stop Underage Drinking PSA  Winners 

On May 1st, 2013, the winners for the 2013 Phoenix Police Department “Too Young to Drink” PSA Contest were announced at the awards ceremony held at North Canyon High School.  Phoenix Police Chief Daniel V. Garcia and Mr. Alberto Gutier of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety were on hand to present the awards to the finalists.
