For the past two years members of the Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol (PNP), residents of the Pointe South Mountain Block Watch (BW), officers from the Phoenix Police South Mountain Precinct (Officer Sheree Lee) and Mr. Bob Sells of Phoenix Parks and Recreation have taken under privileged kids from Lindo, Alkire, and Hermosa Parks under their wing in an effort to better their quality of life.  The kids have been able to attend Phoenix Mercury, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Arizona Rattlers games through donated tickets from those organizations.

On Sunday, February 17th, 2013 former ASU, ABA/NBA, and US Olympic Gold Medal Winner basketball star Joe Caldwell donated 30 tickets to our kids for the Arizona State University Women's Basketball game against the University of Colorado at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe.

Mr. Caldwell volunteered his time to meet with our kids and talk about his career, and career choices our children may have, for about an hour before the game.  Mr. Caldwell also pointed out his displayed banner hanging from the Arena rafters and gave the kids a tour of the arena.  Officer Sheree Lee arranged to have the kids form a double line for the ASU Women's team while they entered the Arena at game time.

Joe said “I am forever grateful when I have the opportunity to speak with and, I hope, influence our children in the positive choices they make despite their social and economic backgrounds”.

It was a super opportunity for the children, who displayed excitement and enthusiasm throughout their visit with Mr. Caldwell and while watching the game. A great time was had by all!
