Welcome to the Central City Precinct! I am proud to work with many law enforcement professionals dedicated to delivering top quality police service to the 91,500+ community members who reside within the boundaries of the precinct, which cover more than 18 square miles. The precinct provides a full range of emergency-response and public safety services to prevent crime and enforce the law in a manner that makes residents and visitors feel safe in their homes, schools, businesses, and neighborhoods. Precinct patrol officers respond to calls for service and situations they view while patrolling in their beats. Our Community Action Officers and Neighborhood Enforcement Teams work hard to closely align our police response to the distinct needs of specific areas. They also serve to support and supplement the work of the patrol officers who perform their duties around the clock with pride, professionalism, and integrity. Please take time to review this website to learn more about information important to you such as crime stats and neighborhood meeting dates and times. Review the precinct map to locate your neighborhood. Learn the name and phone number of your Community Action Officer. For more information, please be sure to read our monthly precinct newsletter, “The Pipeline.” Combined, these resources create a unified and dedicated response to crime and ensure that we deliver outstanding service to our community IN THE HEART OF THE CITY!
Respectfully,
Commander Louis A. Tovar
Central Booking Mission
The Central Booking Detail serves to support the Patrol Division as a pre-booking operation that is supervised by the Central City Precinct. Central Booking operates out of the Southern Command Station, located at 3443 South Central Ave. It is designed to expedite the processing and transporting of prisoners to the Maricopa County Jail System with the intent of returning patrol officers back to their assigned beat area in the most expeditious manner possible. Central Booking staffs, both sworn and civilian, are dedicated to accomplishing this task while at the same time providing safety in the facility and maintaining a standardized process for accepting prisoners. For more information, please contact Lt. Mark Tallman.

What is a Community Action Officer (CAO)?
CAO's are liaisons between the community and the police department. Their purpose is to monitor what's happening in your community and to assist you with problems that require more time than a standard call to crime stop or 9-1-1 would permit, such as ongoing or reoccurring crimes or providing resources that may be available to address various concerns. Essentially, CAO's are part of your community and are a resource for you when you don't know where else to go. Additionally, CAO's are responsible for organizing crime suppression efforts, providing community education, and they help promote various community events like Block Watch and Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol (PNP). In the tan box below is a map to locate the CAO assigned to your neighborhood, as well as their contact information.
If you need to file an Authority to Arrest with the Central City Precinct, please review this information and fill out the Authority to Arrest form. Once completed, you can either fax the form to Central City Precinct (602-534-0766) or e-mail it to a CAO.
Beginning Wednesday, June 6, 2012, we will begin alternating meeting locations between Bill Johnson’s Big Apple at 3757 East Van Buren (8:00 a.m.) and the Residences at 4225 East McDowell Rd. (5:30 p.m.). We are in hopes this new alternating format will accommodate more of our community leaders who may not be available for an 8 a.m. meeting and assist those that may have conflicting evening meetings or other evening obligations. We are excited to offer this alternative and are in hopes to share even more quality communication with our neighborhood and business leaders.
If you have any comments, concerns, or questions please call Officer Doreena Wiegert at 602-534-6313 or email her at doreena.wiegert@phoenix.gov
