The Traffic Bureau

Car Accident

 The Traffic Bureau has a critical role in the community and is an essential element of the community-based policing function. The bureau is committed to contributing to the overall quality of life in our community. The bureau intends to contribute to these quality-of-life issues by reducing the number and severity of traffic collisions, deterring and detecting criminal activity and traffic violations, and contributing to the efficient use of roadways. The Traffic Bureau is structured into three units.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit

  • Routine traffic enforcementMotorcycles lined up.
  • Collision investigation
  • Aggressive Driver interdiction program
  • Red Light Running program

The Traffic Support Unit

  • DUI Enforcement programs
  • Youth Alcohol Education and Enforcement
  • Citywide DUI Van program
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspection (CVI)
  • Abandoned Vehicle Removal program
  • Downtown Parking Enforcement Detail

The Vehicular Crimes Unit

  • Investigation of serious collisions
  • Investigation of collisions involving serious injury or death
  • Follow up investigations on Hit and Run Accidents
