PROPOSED CHANGES FOR LOCAL BUS ROUTES and RAPID(tm) COMMUTER SERVICE, OPERATING IN THE CITY OF PHOENIX, TO BE EFFECTIVE JULY 22, 2013
The Public Transit Department has concluded public outreach meetings and the April 8, 2013 public hearing for this phase of public comment for Proposed July 22, 2013 Bus Service Changes. At this time, transit staff is reviewing public input and this site will be updated if changes are made to the proposed service changes.

The following lists the proposed changes to City of Phoenix funded local Valley Metro routes, and RAPID(tm) commuter routes, which provide service throughout the City of Phoenix. Proposed changes would be effective on July 22, 2013, and could include modification of several bus routes to extend, reduce, or alter service; as well as modification of RAPID schedules. This list will be updated if there are any changes.

Phoenix Zoo map of proposed changes (PDF)
Routes 1 & 3 - Proposed modification of the eastern end-of-line segments for both routes, based on public feedback, to determine the most effective service to the Phoenix Zoo; any redundant service may be eliminated.
Route 56 - Proposed extension of the end-of-line segment, to provide service to the Phoenix Zoo and Desert Botanical Gardens.

Route 56 - Change routing to serve Priest Drive between Elliot Road to Ray Road, continuing to 48th Street.
Route 108 - Proposed extension of west end of route to 48th Street on Elliot Road, then on 48th Street to Frye Road, with additional peak hour service to the 40th Street / Pecos Road Park-and-Ride.
Route 156 - Proposed extension of west end of route to 48th Street on Chandler Boulevard.

Route 10 - Proposed extension of west end of route to 67th Avenue on Lower Buckeye Road.
Central/South Mountain RAPID - Proposed elimination of 2 morning and 2 afternoon trips. proposed modified schedule (PDF)

Route 16 - Proposed extension of weekday peak trips north to Northern Avenue on 16th Street from Glendale Avenue.
Route 39 - Proposed elimination of route.
Route 39 (new) - Proposed creation of new 40th Street route between Shea Boulevard and Paradise Valley Community College.
Route 80 - Proposed extension to SR-51 on Northern Avenue, on SR-51 to Shea Boulevard, and on Shea Boulevard to Mayo Clinic at 136th Street.
Route 106 - Proposed modification of route to end at Paradise Valley Mall Transit Center.
Route 186 - Proposed extension of route to Scottsdale Road on Mayo Boulevard.

Route 122 - Proposed modification of route to end at 19th Avenue on Cactus Road; would no longer serve MetroCenter Transit Center.
Draft Title VI Analysis of Proposed July 2013 Service Changes
Title VI is intended to ensure that all persons are not discriminated against or denied the benefits of public services based on their color, race, or national origin. Changes to transit services (rerouting, reductions or expansions) are also monitored for disparate and/or disproportionate treatment with regard to populations served.
