Approved Service Changes for January 28, 2013

For Valley Metro Bus Routes and Schedules, Operating in the City of Phoenix, Effective Jan. 28, 2013
 

The city of Phoenix Public Transit Department held two public meetings and a public hearing to present proposed changes to a number of city of Phoenix-operated and funded Valley Metro bus routes.  The proposed changes were approved by the Phoenix City Council, and will take effect January 28, 2013

RAPID Central/South Mountain – New service from 27th Ave. & Baseline into Downtown Phoenix.  This pilot program has been operating since July 23, 2012.

SMART Neighborhood Circulator – Changed frequency from 60 minutes to 35 minutes by cutting portions of the western end of the route.

Light Rail Northwest Extension Modifications:

Light rail construction will occur between Bethany Home Road and Dunlap Road, starting in January, 2013.  

Rt. 15 – Terminate at Montebello and 19th Ave; eliminate northern routing
Rt. 19 – Reroute off 19th Ave to 7th Ave. between Dunlap & Bethany Home during light rail construction
19th Avenue Shuttle – New service on 19th Ave. between Dunlap & Bethany Home during light rail construction
Rt. 60 – Reroute to 19th Ave & Montebello Transit Center via 15th Avenue

44th St & Washington Bus Service Modifications:

Changes to local bus service to connect with the PHX Sky Train, slated to begin operation in early 2013.  


Rt. 1 – Service into 44th St/Washington Transit Center
Rt. 13 – Terminate at Sky Harbor Terminal 4; eliminate northern routing
Rt. 44 – Terminate at 44th St/ Washington; eliminate southern routing
