Collection Days are Changing for Some Customers
Collection days are changing for more than 100,000 residents starting on June 1, 2009. City solid waste vehicles will soon start collecting garbage and recycling in the southwest areas for Phoenix (Missouri Avenue to north of South Mountain/16th Street to 115th Avenue).
That means collection days will change. In some cases, collection days will remain the same, but the garbage and recycling days could switch.
Or perhaps the time of day of collection would change from what the customer is accustomed. Residences that are affected will receive specific information in the postal mail in the near future.
A new web link is currently under construction to show areas effected by the changes, so check back soon for more information.

The City of Phoenix Public Works Department is investigating the possibility of a utility scale solar plant development at the SR 85-Landfill through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The SR-85 Landfill is the city's only active landfill and is located west of Phoenix in the town of Buckeye, near the Patterson Road exit. The solar plant may be combined with a landfill gas to energy project on available land (up to 1200 acres) owned by the Public Works Department, click here for a fact sheet. The project would last 20-30 years and have an estimated plant output of 150-200 megawatts.
