Arizona Ghost Towns: The Photography of Kurt Wenner
Join Pueblo Grande Museum for the new exhibit, “Ghost Towns of Arizona: Photography of Kurt Wenner”. This exhibit features over 40 photographs of Arizona ghost towns, taken by Kurt Wenner between 1996 and 2006. Though many of the places and structures in the images no longer survive, this exhibit strives to tell the story that not all history is written by people who live in big cities.
People find old, abandoned places fascinating, and certainly full of questions. Why was this town built? Who lived here? Why did they leave? Unfortunately, most ghost towns in Arizona are unprotected and vulnerable to vandalism, looting, and, of course, the decay brought about by the elements and time.
Come experience history from the point of view of the small, personal places, towns that are and were less well known, much less frequented, and were inhabited for only a short time. This exhibit will be on display at Pueblo Grande Museum through August 2014 and is included with general museum admission.
This exhibit comes to Pueblo Grande Museum on loan from the Desert Caballeros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona.
