| Aerobics | Workouts that incorporate the use of light free weights, stretching and other aerobic movement. |
| Basketball | Participants play in a fun, non competitive league and learn the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, offence and defense. |
| Basketball (Adult Men's B & C Leagues) | Basketball players develop endurance, strength, and flexibility while enjoying some friendly competition. |
| Basketball (Co-Rec) | Basketball players enjoy a fun way to get fit while developing endurance, strength, and flexibility. |
| Women's Basketball | Women's basketball leagues are offered in the spring and offer a fun fitness experience. |
| Bicycling | Phoenix cyclists hit the city’s bike lanes, paths and trails 365 days a year, for exercise, transportation and recreation. So pump up your tires, put on a helmet and start pedaling - you won’t be disappointed. You’ll find more than 500 miles of dedicated on- and off-street bike lanes, routes and paths. There’s something for everyone, from children who just dropped their training wheels to competitive, hard-core road riders and mountain bikers. |
| Chair Exercise - Senior | Seniors' mobility is enhanced with exercises performed in a chair, often allowing clients to advance into other exercise programs. Contact your local senior center for more information. |
| Cheerleading - Youth | In this class, children learn motions, jumps, kicks, basic stunts, and dance techniques. Children build coordination, strength, and flexibility. |
| Co-Rec Basketball | Basketball players enjoy a fun way to get fit while developing endurance, strength, and flexibility. |
| Dance Classes - Senior | Offered to help improve seniors' fitness and mobility while having fun. Contact your local senior center for more information on the various classes available. |
| Dance Classes - Youth | The city offers several dance classes for all performance levels. Participants can choose from a variety of offerings including hip hop, ballet, tap and jazz. |
| Dive Team - Youth | This summer program provides divers with instruction to refine dives and learn new dives. Participants will have the ability to compete in diving competitions on a weekly basis. |
| Dodgeball - Youth | A fun game where participants are on teams and attempt to dodge the ball as their opponents try to eliminate them from the game. This activity teaches teamwork, agility and endurance. |
| Early Release Program - Youth | A free organized indoor/outdoor recreational opportunity for youth during the school year on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Washington Activity Center. |
| Exercise and Stretch Class | Participant enjoy the ability to work out at your own pace while increasing flexibility and stability. |
| Exercise Classes - Senior | A variety of exercise classes are available to encourage seniors to increase their fitness and balance. Contact your local senior center for more information. |
| Flag Football - Youth | A modified version of football. This sport allows participants to work on hand eye coordination, strength, team work and much more. |
| Flow Yoga | Classes help with stretching, strength, balance and breathing. |
| Fitness Classes | Fitness classes are available for all age groups from toddlers 18 months through senior years. Check your local activity centers for class availability. |
| Fitness Rooms - Senior | Exercise equipment is available for seniors use to help build strength and stamina at various senior centers. Contact your local senior center for more information. |
| Get Up and Move | This program is park of the Summer Camp at Holiday Park. It includes active games, sports and swimming. |
| Golf Lessons - Youth | Golf lessons are offered to Juniors 5 to 17 years of age; itty bitty, beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons/clinics are available. |
| Hiking | This adult hiking program takes advantage of the surrounding trails and encourages adults to stay active and enjoy the fresh air. |
| Hiking (Ranger-led Interpretive Programs) | Join one of our Park Rangers as they lead various interpretive hikes including Wildflower, Petroglyph, Flora and Fauna. |
| Itty Bitty Sports - Youth | Toddlers are introduced to the basic skills of soccer, T-ball, basketball, and other sports while improving coordination and physical skills in a group setting. |
| Karate - Youth | Various levels of karate classes are available. Participants will learn basic stance placement, hand and footwork and advancement by belting to advanced levels. |
| Mountain Bike Programs | Participants are able to enjoy the beautiful trails and weather on a bike. Discussions include bike and rider set-up, gear and safety. Rider courtesy and bike handling skills are also applied. During the ride, Park Rangers will stop and address common mechanical failures and how to fix, adapt and overcome these failures. |
| Open Gym | Open Gym allows rec pass holders to participate in friendly pick up games or individual practice. |
| Outdoor Park Programs | A year round program that offers active games and sports at various different parks. |
| Parks | Well over a million Phoenix-area residents visit traditional city parks each year. They use playgrounds, walking paths, athletic fields, open green space and picnic ramadas to get active, meet neighbors and have fun. |

| Ping Pong - Senior | This active sport allows participants to have fun while improving hand eye coordination. Contact your local senior center for more information. |
| Resistance Strength Training | Classes are designed to help improve overall strength and fitness. |
| Silent Sundays | Outdoor enthusiasts including runners, walkers,cyclists, skate boarders, wheelchair users, and stroller riding tots can now call the streets their own. The main access roads are closed to motor vehicles on the second Sunday of every month at North Mountain Park and on the fourth Sunday at South Mountain Park. |
| Soccer - Youth | Soccer participants enjoy playing and develop endurance, strength, and flexibility. |
| Softball - Adult | Double-round-robin league play with a post season single-elimination tournament. These teams play a double-header schedule during an eight week schedule. |
| Softball - Youth | Join an four week fast pitch softball league. Teams will play a double-header schedule. |
| SPARK Summer Program - Youth | Designed for youth ages 6-12 where the primary focus is developing healthy lifestyles through fitness and fun. |
| Summer Youth Recreation Programs | The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department offers full-day supervised summer recreation programs at 13 centers in Phoenix. The centers also offer sports programs, general interest classes, and drop-in tutoring. Click on the link to the left to search and register for classes. |
| Swim Team - Youth | Participants swim the four competitive strokes while working on stroke refinement and endurance. Each week during the program, swimmers will participate in a recreational meet. |
| T-Ball - Youth | Program participants learn the basics of baseball while developing endurance, strength, and flexibility. |
| Table Tennis | Free table tennis for all ages is available at the Washington Activity Center. Check the schedule for hours. |
| Tae Kwon Do | A form of martial arts that allows participants to experience a full body workout while learning techniques of Tae Kwon Do. |
| Tai Chi - Senior | Tai Chi is a relaxing exercise. Check your local senior center for class offerings. |
| Tai Chi Chuan | A program that offers the opportunity to learn relaxation techniques to improve overall health. |
| Tennis Lessons | Tennis instruction is available for beginners and intermediate players. |
| Therapeutic Breathing Classes | Learn basic breathing techniques that help with overall fitness and relaxation. |
| Trails and Desert Preserves | With over 35,000 acres and 200 plus miles of trails throughout the city, you're never far from pristine Sonoran Desert. There is a trail for everyone and with dozens of trail access points, it's easy to make time for a hike, run or ride. |
| Tumbling and Gymnastics - Youth | This program provides an introduction to gymnastics with basic floor exercise and balance beam instruction. |
| Volleyball - Youth | A six week program offered at Desert West Community Center (6501 W. Virginia) designed to instruct girls on the basics of volleyball. |
| Walking Groups - Senior | Several senior centers offer a variety of slightly different walking programs for seniors' health: Walkabout, Mall Walking, Sunnyslope Striders. Contact your local senior center for more information. |
| Water Aerobics | Participants will enjoy low impact exercise during your choice of a 35 or 60 minute class. Classes meet four days a week and offer a range of intensity for all age groups. |
| Walking Club | Walking clubs allow adult participants the opportunity to walk weekly in groups to help encourage fitness activity. |
| Weight Room | Participants can utilize weight room equipment including treadmills, elliptical machines, bikes, and free weights. |
| Who Owns the End | Participants will play in a fun, non competitive flag football league while learning how to play the game. |
| Wii Games - Senior | Common in the senior centers, Wii offers several fun and interactive games including bowling, baseball and tennis and many others. |
| Yoga - Senior | Three senior center sites currently offer yoga training. Yoga is a fitness activity that teaches stretching, strength and breathing techniques. Contact your local senior center for more information. |
| Yoga | This class teaches breathing and meditation techniques for relaxation in addition to stretching to develop flexibility, strength, and balance. |
| Zumba | A style of movement set to varying Latin beats designed to deliver a cardiovascular workout to participants while also toning the major muscle groups of the body. |
