School to Work Program

Two programs are being piloted in west Phoenix to help develop the workforce of tomorrow. The two programs are “Let’s Do Lunch” and Parks and Recreation Employment Program. They are collaboration among Councilman Claude Mattox's District 5 Office, city of Phoenix departments, and several business and education organizations.

Goals
  • Prepare students for careers in the 21st Century by equipping them with valuable life skills
  • Improve the employment base in the west Phoenix community
  • Offer youth the experience necessary to achieve greater upward mobility
The community partners include Cordova Middle School in the Alhambra School District, Desert Sands Middle School in the Cartwright District, the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Northern Arizona University, and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
