SECURITY CHECKPOINT INFORMATION
New Security Procedures
Effective Jan. 1, 2008, lithium batteries are not allowed in checked luggage unless they are installed in electronic devices. Loose lithium batteries are allowed in carry on baggage if stored in plastic bags.
Keep abreast of all Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security restrictions.
How To Pack
To make your trip through security as quick as possible, please remember two things when packing:
- Pack all unnecessary liquids in your checked luggage.
- Put any travel-sized liquids in one plastic baggie to bring through the security checkpoint. At the checkpoint, you will be asked to remove the plastic baggie from your carry-on and place it on the conveyor belt separately.
- Do not pack loose lithium batteries in luggage you plan to check. Electronic devices with lithium batteries installed may be placed in checked luggage.
- Loose lithium batteries may be placed in carry ons, but must be in plastic baggies.
What You Can Pack and How Much
Travelers may carry through the security checkpoints travel-sized toiletries (3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters or less) that fit comfortably in ONE, quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag. Remember the 3 -1 -1 rule This means you can bring containers that are 3.4 oz. in size or less, in one clear plastic quart-size bag, and one bag per passenger.
After clearing security, travelers can bring beverages and other items purchased in the secure boarding area onto an aircraft.
For more details about amounts and exceptions as well as a complete list of security checkpoint rules, visit the Transportation Security Administration web site.
