PARKING, ROADWAYS AND
AIRFIELD IMPROVEMENTS
Additional economy parking is planned for both the east and west ends of the Airport, including new parking structures.
More efficient roadways and taxiways will not only reduce congestion and delays, they will also reduce pollution and help reinforce Sky Harbor’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
New taxiways will help aircraft move quickly around our 3,000-acre Airport, improving operational efficiencies. Sky Harbor has three runways, with terminal buildings separating the north runway from the two runways on the south side of the Airport. Currently, planes must taxi all the way to the east side of the Airport to travel around the terminal buildings and cross between the north and south side. Two new taxiways on the west side of the Airport will give pilots and air traffic controllers more options and allow for more efficient aircraft operations. Better airfield efficiencies will get your plane to its gate and you on your flight faster.
