October 2008
- Councilman Tom Simplot discusses foreclosures and their impact with
the directors of the city’s Neighborhood Services and Housing
departments. He’ll highlight the importance of shopping local
and the newly renovated Memorial Hall. Simplot also features Phoenix
Sister Cities Youth Ambsador Program and Youth & Education’s
Outstanding Young Man and Young Woman Program.
September 2008
- Councilman Tom Simplot highlights the upcoming fundraiser for the
Phoenix Public Library, Dinner in the Stacks. He also discusses the
benefits of local theatre groups and what they offer to the community.
To close the show, he learns about events happening downtown and throughout
his district as featured on ShowUp.com.
May 2008
- Councilman Tom Simplot highlights the Jemeille Ackourey Scholarship
Fund, which supports the areas of literary, visual and performing
arts. He'll meet with members of the Carl Hayden High School Robotics
team and his District's winners of the Outstanding Young and Young
Woman program. To close the show, he'll feature one of the youngest
swimmers to swim the treacherous 1.4 mile stretch of frigid water
between the infamous Alcatraz Island and the shores of San Francisco.
April 2008
- In this month's On the Issues, Councilman Tom Simplot features the
new romantic comedy "Falling for Grace" and he meets with the film's
writer, producer, director and lead actress, Fay Ann Lee. Simplot
also discusses new Phoenix School of Law in his district and the METRO
Light Rail art program. To close the show, he'll get an update on
light rail.
March 2008
- Councilman Tom Simplot celebrates Gay Pride and speaks with four
different organizations that support LGBT issues, including Equality
Arizona, This is H.O.W., 1n10 Youth Services and Phoenix Pride.
February 2008 - Councilman
Tom Simplot discusses arts and culture within Phoenix and how the
public art process works. He learns about the Native American Community
Service Center and the city's partnership with the Phoenix Indian
Center, Inc. He also meets with members of the Phoenix Neighborhood
Patrol, who serve as the eyes and ears of the Police Department within
their community. Last in the show, he showcases "Chatham's Fine Chocolates",
a local business along the METRO line.

Simplot interviews Jack Ballentine, a retired 27-year veteran of the
Phoenix Police Department who now works in the Phoenix Fire Department
Investigations Division; Dr. Kent Scribner, who recently was selected
as superintendent of the Phoenix Union High School District; and Sen.
Debbie McCune-Davis, Rep. David Lujan and Rep. Chad Campbell of the
Arizona State Legislature to hear more about their agendas for this
year's legislative session.
