How the City is Going Green - Video on Demand

Green Phoenix:  Rubberized Asphalt - Phoenix has a long-standing commitment to diverting materials from the waste stream and using cleaner and more green materials. In 1964, the city pioneered the use of rubberized asphalt in chip sealing and, in 1989, it became the standard for street resurfacing.

Green Phoenix:  Neighborhood Services - The city's Neighborhood Services Department receives a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by reusing 90 to 95 percent of a demolished home.

video icon Green Phoenix:  Brownfields - The goal of the Brownfields program is to reduce obstacles and provide assistance for redevelopment of brownfields in the city.  Find out how Phoenix is a national leader in this endeavor.

video icon Green Phoenix:  Phoenix Recycles Program - Did you know more than half of what we throw away can be recycled? Recycling helps conserve landfill space, preserve natural resources and control rising waste disposal costs. The city has had a recycling program in place since 1999.
video icon Green Phoenix:  City Sustainability - Phoenix demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship through sustainability programs that have helped us to thrive in our unique and beautiful desert environment. The city currently has more than 80 sustainability programs.
video icon Green Phoenix:  Climate Stewardship - As the issue of climate change moved into the forefront of global concerns, Phoenix has demonstrated its leadership by focusing resources on this important issue. In December 2008, the city adopted a Climate Action Plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
