WSD's Customer Services Division is seeking dedicated full-time Customer Service Representatives for our Customer Contact Center. As the first point of contact for many residents, CSRs play a key role in addressing and resolving questions related to water services.

Responsibilities include assisting customers with starting or stopping water service, explaining and verifying billing charges, processing bill adjustments, and issuing fieldwork orders when needed. CSRs also review billing system information and coordinate with field staff to resolve customer billing concerns.

Senior Utility Technician - Wastewater Collection Division

The Water Services Department is looking to hire a Senior Utility Technician for its Wastewater Collection Division. The Wastewater Collection Division is a 24-hour, 7-day a week operation responsible for the maintenance and repair of over 4,900 miles of sanitary sewer main lines with over 105,000 sanitary sewer structures and 425,000 service connections. The division has four area maintenance yards, a closed-circuit television inspection section, and a lift station section.

Responsibilities include:

• Operates hydraulic and mechanical sewer cleaning equipment;
• Leads crews in the maintenance of the City's sanitary sewer system;
• Performs sampling of sanitary sewer for odor and corrosion control, prepares, and forwards reports of data to section / yard management;
• Directs, leads, trains, and participates in the work of a small crew engaged in skilled installation, maintenance, repair, or routine maintenance of the wastewater collection system;
• Leads excavation, shoring, backfilling of trenches and sewer line cleaning, jet hydro vac, and materials to jobsites and oversees projects to completion.
• Accurately complete daily paperwork utilizing the City of Phoenix electronic Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Senior Utility Technicians may be required to perform duties in a specialized functional area in support of wastewater collection activities. Instruction and general supervision are received from the Utility Crew Chief who reviews work by making job site visits and/or reviewing reports.

The Senior Water Quality Inspector position in the Water Services Department (WSD) may be assigned to perform activities for highly regulated permitting and compliance programs relative to drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, industrial pretreatment compliance, commercial inspections, and field sampling and monitoring. Specific duties are dependent on programs to which the position is assigned. Currently the vacancy is in the Industrial Pretreatment Program section within the Environmental & Safety Division (ESD) of the Water Services Department. These positions work in regulatory compliance programs in conjunction with other ESD Sections, WSD Divisions, and City Departments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards for storm water, wastewater, and drinking water.

Opportunity to Underfill at the Water Quality Inspector level

Individuals that do not meet the minimum requirements below for the Senior Water Quality Inspector may qualify for the opportunity to Underfill at the Water Quality Inspector level. The Water Quality Inspector is an entry level position with emphasis placed on learning job duties. Water Quality Inspectors work under the general supervision of a Chief Water Quality Inspector and work is evaluated through on-site checks, meetings, reports, conferences, and overall results achieved. A Water Quality Inspector must demonstrate proficiency in assigned areas before being eligible for advancement to the Senior level.

The Water Services Department is seeking a Utility Crew Chief. Positions in the Wastewater Collection Division oversee the work of staff involved in a sanitary sewer preventive maintenance program providing closed-circuit televised (CCTV) inspection, cleaning, repair, and construction of the wastewater collection system. The Utility Crew Chief supervises and directs crew activities to ensure safety and water quality policies are followed. The Utility Crew Chief represents the City to citizens and contractors when addressing various wastewater issues, coordinates activities with other departments and monitors, evaluates, and trains staff. Utility Crew Chiefs need to be proficient with computers and have strong verbal and written communication skills. In most operations, Utility Crew Chiefs supervise staff in CDL (Commercial Driver's License) positions.
