    Industrial Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for leading and performing journey-level installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, centrifuges, gearboxes, valves, and valve actuators at water or wastewater treatment plants, reclamation plants, groundwater wells, pumping stations, lift stations, and reservoirs. Work assignments are varied, and employees must be skilled in several mechanical trades, including fabrication and millwright. Employees work independently and as part of a team, sometimes leading the team.

    Account Clerk III - Water Billing Customer Services

    WSD is currently seeking to fill an Account Clerk III position within the Billing Customer Services division. Account Clerk IIIs perform highly skilled paraprofessional accounting work using computerized systems.

    Chemist I - Microbiologist (Temporary)

    The Water Services Microbiologist is a Chemist I Specialty position and is assigned to the Environmental Services Division (ESD) in the Water Services Department. This position is responsible for performing compliance testing for microorganisms per EPA and Standard Methods as well as method development in various regulatory programs and special studies for the Water Services Department. The microbiology group regularly engages in the microbiological (total and fecal coliform), parasitology (cryptosporidium and giardia), and molecular biology (polymerase chain reaction) analyses of water and wastewater samples in accordance with federal and state laboratory requirements and internal quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) policies and procedures. This Specialty assignment differs from the base classification of Chemist I due to the greater quality control and documentation requirements to develop scientifically sound, legally defensible methods that ensure compliance and maintain the laboratory's ADHS licensure and NELAP accreditation.

    This temporary position will be funded through September 30, 2027, with a possibility to be made regular in a future budget cycle. The temporary position will have benefits but will not earn city retirement credits or participate financially into the city's retirement program. If the successful candidate is a current City employee, all benefits will still be applicable and the employee will still contribute to their pension.  Temporary positions are not covered under civil service rules, and thus employment is considered "at-will" and employees may be separated at any time.

    The work schedule for this position is Tuesday through Saturday. During training, the work schedule will be Monday through Friday. Must assist in weekend and holiday coverage, since the Microbiology Section has a 7-day workweek.

    The Water Services Department (WSD) is seeking a Tuesday-Saturday Laboratory Technician to join the Laboratory Services Section of the Environmental & Safety Division. In this role you are responsible for monitoring water quality for inorganic and organic constituents in order to optimize plant processes and maintain regulatory compliance requirements. You will be engaged in the physical, chemical, microbiological, or process-related analyses of water/wastewater samples in accordance with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) policies and procedures. This position operates in a laboratory that is open 365 days a year.
