Applications for the A3F Scholarship program are due on December 20 from students at Phoenix College and Scottsdale Community College. We are trying to reach our goal of $2000 by this date. Unfortunately, our fundraising has been very slow.
We have raised $725 so far, but only two people from the A3F community have donated in addition to contributions made from Majerle's and myself. We realize that with the state of the economy and other charities asking for contributions, it's sometimes tough to decide on whether you want to give or can afford to.
When we set up our non-profit foundation in 2008, one of the criteria was to give back to the community in more ways that just our film festival. So we included a scholarship program and are excited to finally have the opportunity to help two students live our their dreams and attend a semester of school for free!
But we need you help! If everyone on this list just gave $3.00 we would reach our goal, that's the cost of a cup of coffee in some places. So please consider a monetary gift of any amount before December 20 and help us make two individuals Almost Famous. *Donations are tax-deductible!
You can make your donation, any amount, on our website.

City of Phoenix Grant Opportunity for Marketing/Web Development
The City of Phoenix, Community and Economic Development Department, Business Retention and Expansion Division (aka home of the Phoenix Film Office), issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Marketing/Web Development and Incubator/Accelerators on November 13th. This RFP is issued annually for nonprofit groups and for profit agencies/organizations serving City residents.
Local Film Industry professionals might find interest in the Marketing/Web Development area in which “Proposals submitted under this priority should illustrate how Applicant will work with small businesses to implement strong marketing strategies through the use of new media, enhanced on-line presence and video to increase their visibility and grow their business locally, nationally and internationally. Businesses served would otherwise not be able to afford these services.”
There is a potential for two (2) awards for Marketing/Web Development with a maximum allotment of $33,798 for each award.

Nominations Open for APA's Board of Directors
Dear APA Members:
It's election time! It's time to think about being on the board and contributing to the direction we take as we move forward with a new agenda. It's time to think about helping APA build an international platform for all its members to strut their stuff without ever leaving home. It's time to get involved. We need you. We want new faces, we need new ideas and it's important to not just be a member but to also bring something to the table.
APA has provided a service to those out of market for over 25 years, and we will continue to do so on a grander scale now that we are not limited to a certain amount of printed books. With your help, we can continue the momentum and make this organization bigger and better than ever before.
To be eligible to run, you must be a current APA member in good standing, which means your dues must be paid current. If elected, you must be willing to serve a three-year term, be able to regularly attend board meetings and actively support, attend and participate in one or more committees. (There are currently approximately eight board meetings per year held in a Central Phoenix location. Members who live outside of the Valley may attend by phone conference.)
All nominees will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire letting us know your experience in the industry and any ideas/goals you have for the APA. This form is used to prepare the ballot that will be sent out to members.
Please feel free to ask me, Julie or Jill Ormond any questions you might have to help you make a decision about running for the board.
The DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS to be received is October 31, 2013.
Thank you for contributing to the success of YOUR APA!

Costumes are encouraged for those who are done with trick-or-treating and ready for some more grown-up fun! (Children are welcome, but please be advised, this is a VERY scary film!)
Tickets are $10 General Admission and $5 for Yavapai College Employees and students from any school. Tickets can be purchased at the door 45 minutes before showtime or in advance at www.prescottfilmfestival.com

IFP Presents: "FourWalling Workshop"
Let’s say you have made a film, and you want people to see it. Traditionally, you may show it in a theater, and the theater takes a percentage of your total ticket sales Four Walling offers an alternative to this model where you pay a flat fee for the room, and then any profits you make back over that amount are yours to keep. This model gives you flexibility in your ticket pricing and allows you to reach out to viewers at any price that you want.
Bonus Content on Social Media Strategy
Mindplate will also be offering tips and tricks on how to successfully reach out to viewers through social media. They have developed a 5 step strategy to allow filmmakers (and artists of all kinds) to make meaningful connections with their audiences.
We are encouraging all participants to bring in laptops or any device of your choice in order to make this a working session. It’s not just a lecture, we want this to be active and useful time for everyone.
When: Saturday, October 12th from 1-3pm
Where: Grand Canyon University
