(September 2007) Several city projects and initiatives were honored for significant contributions to the environment during the annual Valley Forward Environmental Excellence Awards ceremony. The first-place Crescordia Award went to the following city projects: Phoenix Union High School/University of Arizona College of Medicine; North Gateway Transfer Station/Material Recovery Facility; Cesar Chavez Library; the Green Building Expo, a partnership with Scottsdale and Tempe; and the Sonoran Preserve Edge Treatment Guidelines.
