Subcommittee Meetings

These meetings are held in the assembly rooms on the first floor of Phoenix City Hall.

Downtown, Aviation and Redevelopment Subcommittee

Meets at 10 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month

Provides policy guidance on issues related to:  development, uses, and events occurring within the City’s downtown, continued development and operation of the City’s airports, Sister Cities programs, and education including early childhood learning, after-school programs, and libraries.  This year, this subcommittee will take on new charges including redevelopment programs city-wide and supporting the formation of new programs/strategies associated with international trade and development.

Finance, Efficiency and Economy Subcommittee

Meets at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month

Provides policy guidance on issues related to innovation and efficiency including:  right sourcing proposals; leading the development and implementation of innovations; focusing on best practices and government efficiency.  This subcommittee will also address sustainability issues including alternative energy, energy efficiency, and the use sustainability principles in all of the city’s services including in non-energy areas.  Finally, this subcommittee will also be addressing economic development issues including:  business attraction and retention, small and local business/entrepreneurism, and work force development.

Neighborhoods, Housing and Development Subcommittee

Meets at 10 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month

Provides policy guidance related to: neighborhoods, housing, homeless, historic preservation, domestic violence, planning, zoning, and development reviews including site plan, permitting and inspections.

Parks and Arts Subcommittee

Meets at 10 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month

Provides policy guidance on issues related to parks, arts, families and seniors.

Public Safety and Veterans Subcommittee

Meets at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month

Provides policy guidance on public safety issues including: police, fire, veterans, courts, and homeland security.  This subcommittee will also consider how to improve and increase the accessibility of information and public records, particularly on the City’s website.  This subcommittee will also study and review the City’s ethics and conflict of interest policies

Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee

Meets at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of the month 

Provides policy guidance on issues related to streets, transportation planning, public transit, light rail, infrastructure planning, water, wastewater and solid waste.
