An all-new episode of the Emmy Award-nominated “Building Phoenix” television show premieres at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, on PHX11 and online at phoenix.gov/11. The program will replay at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24.
This episode highlights the adaptive reuse of the Al Beadle-designed Federal Savings and Loan into a new restaurant called Federal Pizza, from the team behind Postino Wine Café. The building is featured in the city’s award-winning Midcentury Marvels: Commercial Architecture of Phoenix, 1945-1975.
The program also highlights 180 Degree Auto, in the Melrose on 7th Avenue area of Central Phoenix, that takes sustainability to a whole new level. Plus, a couple of Planning & Development inspectors take viewers inside the Roosevelt Point multi-family project taking shape on Roosevelt Row in Downtown Phoenix; an easy way to determine your property line; and a step-by-step look at restoring the windows on a home in the Willo Historic District.
The “Building Phoenix” show premiered in 2006 on PHX11 and is produced by city staff from the Public Information Office, Planning and Development Department and PHX11.
