Orpheum Theatre and Symphony Hall Seek Volunteers and Offer Training

Feb. 20, 2013

Phoenix Convention Center Graphic The Phoenix Convention Center & Venues is seeking new volunteers.  Individuals with a friendly disposition and a spirit of service who are interested in serving as Ushers at the facility’s two theatrical venues, Orpheum Theatre and Symphony Hall, are invited to apply.

Our volunteers are often the first point of contact for patrons during theatrical events and concerts. They provide courteous, friendly, knowledgeable service to enhance patrons’ event experience and leave them with a positive first and last impression.  We value our volunteers and recognize their contributions each spring at our annual volunteer awards ceremony.

The Phoenix Convention Center volunteer program was established over ten years ago and currently has 250 volunteers who donate more than 19,000 hours of service each year.  Twice a month, volunteer docents with the Friends of the Orpheum Theatre host free public tours at the historic Orpheum Theatre and share its rich history with hundreds of people each year.

Training for new volunteers will be held as follows:

  • 5 - 7 p.m., Feb. 21
    Symphony Hall
  • 1 - 3 p.m.
    April 13
    Orpheum Theatre
  • 5 - 7 p.m.
    April 18
    Symphony Hall
  • 5 - 7 p.m.
    May 23
    Symphony Hall

To complete the training program, prospective volunteers must attend one training session at each venue — Symphony Hall, 75 N. Second St., and the Orpheum Theatre, 203 W. Adams St.

If you have been looking for a fun and exciting volunteer opportunity, this may be the right fit for you.
