Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni will talk about the writing life and her new book, “Oleander Girl,” 7 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Burton Barr Central Library, located at 1221 N. Central Ave.

Divakaruni is the international bestselling author of “Sister of My Heart,” “One Amazing Thing,” and “The Mistress of Spices,” which was made into a movie staring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Dylan McDermott.  Born in Kolkata, India, Divakaruni writes about immigration, the South Asian experience and myth.  She teaches creative writing at the University of Houston.  

Books, including “Oleander Girl” scheduled for release on March 19, will be available for purchase at the event.  The program is sponsored by the Phoenix Public Library Foundation.
