Burton Barr Central Library will host the exhibit “Kids in Focus” March 8 - 22, 2013 in Teen Central, located on the fourth floor of 1221 N. Central Ave. The exhibit features photos by 19 seventh graders from Children First Academy, a nonprofit, K-8 public charter school where all the students’ families are at poverty level and 40% of the students are homeless. Organized by photographer Karen Shell, the project teamed students with photographer mentors to create images that document the students’ lives.
The Phoenix Public Library Foundation will host an opening reception 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7 in Teen Tech Lab on the fourth floor of Burton Barr Central Library. Councilman Michael Nowakowski will offer remarks at 6:30 p.m.
