Mayor Greg Stanton is traveling to San Jose and Silicon Valley today to establish Phoenix as a lead contender for companies considering relocation or expansion opportunities outside of California.

GPEC President/CEO Barry Broome will accompany Stanton to meet with information technology, clean technology and manufacturing companies in the Bay area.

“As Phoenix leads Arizona into a new and strong economic future, we’ve got to think outside the box to attract business and jobs,” Stanton said. “As these companies continue to grow faster after the recession, we want to partner with them and offer them the best city with the best work force in the country so we can be mutually successful.”

Due to the confidential nature of the visits, the names of the particular companies will not be released. They will meet with the companies to discuss their expansion or relocation plans, due diligence on national markets and provide an overview of the Phoenix region’s assets. They also will discuss opportunities for foreign investment.
