What is Reimagine Phoenix?
In February 2013, Mayor Greg Stanton announced a new citywide sustainability initiative, Reimagine Phoenix, to reduce the amount of trash sent to city landfills by 40 percent by the year 2020. The goal will be achieved by:
- enhancing current city solid waste programs to encourage more sustainable practices, such as recycling and composting. Stay tuned for the launch of the city's green organics program - coming in summer 2014!
- partnering with industry and community leaders on sustainability
- increasing communication and education about sustainability efforts to residents and to businesses
By reconsidering what we send to the landfill and recovering the value of our resources, we can save money and reimagine a better future for Phoenix and the Valley.
