Meet the supervisor

Founder Molly W. Schenck

As the founder and only full time employee of Grey Box, I take on the majority the responsibilities of operating an arts organization in Phoenix AZ. This includes but is not limited to director/choreographer, producer, artistic director, production designer and manager, business and operations manager, research and development, program coordinator, marketing/PR/social media content creator and manager, film editor, sound designer/editor, website designer, and graphic designer. While the work produced is collaborative, behind the scenes Grey Box is a company of one. I have found that being a part of the ArtsCorp program allows me to shift my time and energy towards things that help to strengthen the organization as a whole and it has helped me develop a unique vocabulary to explaining how Grey Box as an organization functions. I am once again excited by this opportunity because it would allow Grey Box to offer another robust internship. My motivation for being a part of this program again comes from the past two years of experience with it. Having additional support makes a world of difference as a small organization. Many of the large projects produced in the past two years would not have been possible without the support of this program. This experience will support my professional growth by encouraging me to effectively and efficiently communicate to others the organizationals structures that are second nature to me. The student worker will serve the organization and community by creating more space for organizational evolution.

About this organization

Grey Box Collective

Grey Box Collective (GBC) is a trauma-informed, interdisciplinary, experimental, and post-dramatic performing arts organization who creates original shows about social-emotional wellbeing (i.e. we make weird art about tough stuff). The works are considered artistic vehicles for social change that offer brave and supportive spaces for audiences and artists. Beyond the stage, we offer workshops and trainings in Trauma-Informed Creative Practices for our community to support sustainable creativity, to promote an understanding of trauma, and share a methodology for developing art in safe ways. Additionally, we have an online store and podcast to extend our reach.
