About this Student Worker Position
Xico is prioritizing it’s volunteer engagement program. The Volunteer Liaison will coordinate with Xico staff to refine volunteer opportunities and identify areas for engagement. This position is responsible for recruiting, interviewing, training, and supervising volunteers for Xico’s programs, activities, and events. By end of term, we will have a strong pool of volunteers actively engaged. The Volunteer Liaison reports directly to the Operations Coordinator.
Meet the supervisor
Ash Kee is a Diné (Navajo) woman dedicated to uplifting impacted communities through her personal and professional career. Ash graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s in public policy and Minor in Sociology in 2018. Since then, she has worked for a range of social justice nonprofits providing legal advocacy, access to higher education, rehabilitation services, and justice for incarcerated populations. She is currently the Operations Coordinator at Xico, excited to foster growth and bring people together around the arts and creative expression.
About the program
The Phoenix ArtCorps is a student employment program from the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture that seeks to provide students with the comprehensive skills, mentorship, and experience they need to launch their arts and culture careers. Over the course of the 2023-2024 academic cycle, each student works 400 hours for $17/hr (around 15 to 20 hours a week), with additional stipends and professional development opportunities. To apply, students must be current or recently graduated undergraduate students at a community college, university, or other institution of higher education based in Phoenix (or live in Phoenix themselves). Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There are no other enrollment requirements. Students do not need to be majoring in the arts or similar fields to apply.
