Chilled Drinking Water in Public Spaces

Access to chilled drinking water is a fundamental need that is essential for maintaining overall health and wellbeing. This project aims to expand access to chilled drinking water in Downtown Phoenix.

Exploring Sustainable Solutions

In early 2023, the Office of Innovation partnered with Bloomberg Associates to design and deploy a pilot initiative focused on access to chilled drinking water. The project takes a data-driven approach to understand the needs of the Phoenix community to have access to chilled drinking water. Our sustainable network of chilled water fountains is expanding to combat rising urban temperatures in a desert environment for residents and visitors in the City of Phoenix.

The chilled drinking water network will advance Mayor Kate Gallego's vision of transforming Phoenix into a sustainable desert city by increasing equitable access to chilled drinking water. This will combat rising urban temperatures, reduce plastic waste, build a walkable city, and focus on the needs of the community.
