Parks and Recreation Board Members
The
Parks and Recreation Board was established by the Phoenix City Charter, Chapter XXIII to accomplish the following goals:
- To receive, accept or acquire by grant, gift, bequest or devise, property of every kind, real, personal or mixed, whosesoever situated, in fee, trust or otherwise, subject to any provisions made by the donor.
- Establish operating policies for recreational facilities and services within and without the city as the developing public recreation needs may require.
- Enter into contracts to grant concessions, licenses and permits for the use of the recreational facilities of the city and to contract with others for the use of recreational facilities needed by the city.
- Establish schedules of charges for miscellaneous recreational facilities and to advise the City Council on fees to be set by Council on golf courses, tennis centers and swimming pools.
- Advise the Council concerning recreational needs and recommend acquisition, location, and nature of facilities to meet said needs.
- Receive and consider the proposed annual budget for parks and recreation purposes during the process of its preparation and make recommendations with respect thereto.
- Perform such other duties as may be prescribed by ordinance not inconsistent with the provisions of this charter.
This Board meets once per month on the fourth Thursday at 5:00 p.m., except the meeting for November is changed to the third Thursday because of holidays. July and December meetings are typically cancelled.

Phoenix Parks & Preserve Initiative Oversight Committee Members
The
Phoenix Parks and Preserves Initiative Oversight Committee is responsible for annually reviewing the expenditures of the Phoenix Parks and Preserve Initiative Program for conformance to the September 1999 Ballot. The committee shall consult with the Parks and Recreation Board, Citizens Bond Committee, and advise the City Council on the Parks and Preserve Initiative Program.
This committee meets annually.

Phoenix Sonoran Preserve & Mountain Parks/Preserves Committee
The
Phoenix Sonoran Preserve and Mountain Parks/Preserve Committee is responsible for developing or recommending ordinances to the Parks and Recreation Board impacting mountain and desert preserves and the urban development surrounding them. Phoenix Sonoran Preserve and Mountain Parks/Preserve Committee is, by City Charter, dedicated to the conservation of large tracts of natural Sonoran Desert open space within the City of Phoenix. Its mission is to provide a public forum for the development of policies to conserve, manage, protect and enhance the Phoenix Mountain Preserves system resources for the aesthetic and scenic value, recreational use, cultural interpretation, and environmental education of the public.
This committee meets bimonthly on the third Monday at 6:00 p.m.
