ABOUT THE PROJECT
The 27th Avenue and South Mountain Drainage Basin will serve as an "outfall" for the planned storm drain system (see yellow lines on this map). Building an outfall is a critical first step before constructing the rest of the drainage system. The basin will collect the water coming from the south and then slowly drain the water into the existing storm drain to the north (see blue line along 27th Avenue on this map).
The drainage basin will be located on the northeast corner of 27th and South Mountain avenues.
The city of Phoenix, in partnership with the Flood Control District of Maricopa County, is managing the design and construction of the basin.
This project is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed by late 2016.
