Phoenix Set to Add New Parking Meters in Roosevelt Row North of Downtown Phoenix
At the request of a non-governmental parking committee commissioned by the Roosevelt Row Merchants Association and the Evans-Churchill Neighborhood Association, the city of Phoenix will be strategically adding approximately 180 new parking meters in the area just north of downtown, bordered by Fillmore Street on the south, Portland Street on the north, Central Avenue to the west and 5th Street to the east. The new meter locations are identified in yellow on this map. Installation is set to begin in late February.
These meters will encourage more parking turnover at on-street spaces which are currently uncontrolled and often times remain occupied by the same vehicles all day, thus limiting the amount of visitors who have access to these parking locations.
These new meters will initially allow up to two hours of parking on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., and up to four hours of parking on weekdays between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. The area will still feature approximately 500 free and unrestricted on-street parking spaces that are available to the public at a first come first served basis.
