Roadway Construction The majority of curb, gutter and sidewalk has been placed with crews working on tie-in locations at both bridges as well as 27th and 19th Avenues. Crews are working on fine grading the roadway with paving expected to take place later this month. The street light junction box and street light pole installation is also slated for the month of May. Crews have nearly completed installation of gabion baskets at the 19th Avenue and 27th Avenue bridges to provide bank protection. Grading is underway behind the sidewalk in the areas that will include decomposed granite and native seeding. Structures Bridge at 19th Avenue - Close to completion with upcoming installation of sidewalk barriers that will connect to each end of the bridge. Bridge at 27th Avenue - Bridge deck poured on April 27th, with roadway tie-in slabs and bridge barriers to be completed early June 2017.
April 2017
The bridge structures continue to take shape at 19th and 27th Avenues. Crews have installed gabion baskets and placed rock needed for erosion protection at the 19th Avenue bridge. The 19th Avenue bridge deck has been placed and crews will begin installing the bridge sidewalk in early March. Gabion baskets are currently being installed under the 27th Avenue bridge with the bridge deck placement to begin at the end of April.
Roadway construction will begin taking place with curb and gutter installation beginning in mid-March. Roadway grading, sidewalk, and catch basin installation will follow soon after.
Underground work continues with storm drain installation and installation of catch basins, and headwalls are scheduled to be installed in early April.
July 2016
Design plans for the project are now complete with construction anticipated to begin in late summer 2016. Utility relocation work is currently underway and is expected to continue over the next several months. This work will provide for installation of conduit for Salt River Project (SRP), Cox Communications, Century Link and future street lighting. Plant salvaging is also ongoing in the project area.
