Federal Residential Solar Energy Tax Credit
The federal residential solar energy tax credit can be claimed on federal income taxes for a percentage of the cost of a solar energy system paid for by the taxpayer. The installation of the system must be completed during the tax year.
Solar energy systems installed between 2022 and 2032 are eligible for a tax credit worth 30% of the cost of the system and its installation. At this time there is no maximum amount that can be claimed. To learn more check out the Department of Energy's Homeowner's Guide to the Federal Tax Credit for Solar Photovoltaics.
Arizona Department of Revenue's Income Tax Credit for Residential Solar Devices
The State of Arizona offers the Income Tax Credit for Residential Solar Devices for homeowners who buy and install a solar energy system at 25% of the cost, including installation, or $1,000, whichever is less. If another system is installed in a later year, the cumulative credit cannot exceed $1,000 for the same residence. To learn more click here.
