The artists and project team combined wall, landscape and fence designs to meld with the surrounding desert landscape. The images for the cast-in-place concrete wall reliefs were inspired by the shadow patterns of the area's desert plants and trees. The team maximized the wall's variety of visual effects by rotating 10 distinct form liners in 90-degree increments. Extending 8 feet high and more than 1,200 feet long, the walls provide both the security the site requires and a shifting tableaux of desert images that can be seen from the street, 50 feet away.  The gate design mimics the cactus patterns that animate sections of the wall into the wall.  ​
