Gasowski enhanced the six structural columns – each 4’ in diameter – by adding sculptural undulations and a black mosaic surface of broken commercial and handmade tiles and pottery. He worked with Phoenix artists and secondary school students to create the glossy black hand-made tiles. The shiny surface refers to the black-on-black Native American pottery made at the Santa Clara and San Ildefonso pueblos.​​
