Diaz's terrazzo floor – 500 feet long by 40 feet wide – features vibrant patterns of richly-colored blossoms, winding vines and crimson diamonds which culminate in a swirling geometric mandala at mid-bridge. Diaz worked closely with the PHX Sky Train design and construction team of HOK Architects, Gannett Fleming engineers, and the Hensel Phelps Construction Company to integrate the design into the station. The terrazzo was poured in place between 36,740 linear feet of cut aluminum strips. The aggregate includes 34,398 pounds of abalone shell, native desert stones and crushed, recycled glass. The floor was produced by Advance Terrazzo, in Phoenix.
