The Phoenix Women’s Commission is proud of its more than 35 years of community involvement and accomplishments for women in Phoenix. The commission’s mandate is to address women’s issues within the city of Phoenix and create partnerships among women’s groups.
The commission is comprised of volunteers who explore resolutions to the concerns of women, promote the contributions of women in civic and public affairs, and advise the mayor and City Council on issues facing women in Phoenix.
The commission's focus includes:
- Helping women gain access to education through academic scholarships
- Providing information and resources to increase safety for victims of domestic violence
- Enhancing financial literacy and economic independence for women
- Providing a vital link between government and community
- Building community partnerships that promote the status of women
- Identifying and addressing issues of critical importance to women
The Phoenix Women's Commission assists women through scholarships and awareness to empower them to further their education and careers. Commissioners work with community partners and educational institutions to address issues facing women in the workplace, economic empowerment, domestic violence and educational opportunities.
