History of the Family Advocacy Center
The city of Phoenix Family Advocacy Center opened its doors in August 1999. As part of the City Manager's Office, the center serves as a central location for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to receive services.
The center began providing comprehensive services to victims and families through a variety of partnerships. From the beginning, staff worked with victims to help navigate the system, strengthen investigations and enhance the prosecution of perpetrators. Partnerships with community-based organizations provide valuable advocacy services to victims and their families.
Partnerships have expanded to include services such as individual counseling, long-term case management and various support groups that meet the needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
