Attorneys make daily court appearances, participate in arraignments, pretrial-disposition conferences, and conduct bench and jury trials. With a focus to balance social justice with public safety, prosecutors are on the front lines and must exhibit sound judgment to review or initiate charges. Your ability to work well within a team is essential to negotiate plea bargains designed to improve the lives of the parties involved as well as our community. The work requires regular professional interaction and ability to clearly communicate with victims, defendants, witnesses, office staff, co-workers, attorneys, judges, and court personnel.

Attorneys have opportunities for growth and development in the City Attorney’s office and make a meaningful impact to the community from rotating work in the four bureaus, promotional and leadership opportunities, or moving to the civil division.
