Phoenix City Manager Launches New Performance Dashboard

June 3, 2022 8:15 AM

After just eight months into his role as Phoenix City Manager, Jeff Barton is making his mark by unveiling a new, more transparent way for residents to track the City’s successes and benchmarks. The reimagined City Manager’s Performance Dashboard is now live at Phoenix.gov/Dashboard.

The City Manager’s Performance Reports were originally launched in 2014. While the reports were innovative for their time, the new dashboard is an interactive platform fitting for 2022.

“Phoenix is an innovative and data-driven city,” said Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. “The new City Manager’s Performance Dashboard allows residents to easily access key performance indicators and better understand how their city is strategically working towards its goals.”

The new dashboard is a modern, dynamic website that displays more than 130 key performance metrics from 28 City departments. The data is accessible and digestible, something very important for Barton. “Understanding your local government should not be complicated,” he said. “This dashboard breaks down Phoenix’s progress on issues important to our residents so they can be engaged and informed.”

Transparency is a core value for Barton. He explained that the “improved dashboard exemplifies my commitment to transparent communication with our residents and fosters accountability within the City of Phoenix as an organization,” he said. The dashboard will show where the City is making strides... and where there is room for improvement.

The more than 130 metrics available on the dashboard will be updated regularly and new metrics will be added in the future. However, metrics will not be removed even if the City is lagging behind its goals. “The dashboard will give me, and our residents, a quick snapshot of the City’s operational health. It will identify where there is an issue and where we need to make changes,” said Barton. “I am committed to meeting our goals as a City, and I am excited that through the new dashboard, residents can follow our progress in meeting those goals.”

Residents are encouraged to visit the improved dashboard and dig into the data for themselves at Phoenix.gov/Dashboard.
