Nineteen students attending Phoenix schools have been selected from dozens of applicants as the 2018 Outstanding Young Men/Young Women (OYMYW) of the Year.
The OYMYW of the Year program recognizes and honors the outstanding achievements of students, enhances the perception of youth and raises community awareness of their positive contributions to society.
Each student applied for the award by submitting an application, essay, recommendation letter, and taking part on interviews. Each district winner will receive $500 and is eligible to become the citywide winner. The two overall winners will be awarded an additional $1,500 and will be recognized at an upcoming awards reception along with the district winners.
The 2018 OYMYW district winners are:

District 8:Jennifer Garnica and Ivan Alexander
The Maricopa County Bar Foundation honorary winners are:
