The Phoenix Housing Department will provide one year of internet service for 25 donated T-Mobile tablets, thanks to a $3,000 GitHub microgrant.
Twenty-five public housing residents in the Edison-Eastlake Community will use the tablets as participants in the ConnectHomeUSA Program. The program includes a four-part digital literacy training, a focus group session and quarterly usage surveys.
Participants who complete the program will be able to keep their donated tablets, thereby continuing their access to technology and digital learning at home.
The connected tablets will complement the Housing Department's mission of increasing resident self-sufficiency.
