Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (Habitat) in partnership with the city of Phoenix Housing Department, held a home dedication and celebration ceremony for the first new, LEED Platinum affordable single-family home in Phoenix's Central City South neighborhood.
About the new homeowner: Angelica was born and raised in the Central City South neighborhood. Looking to create housing stability for her and her son, she turned to Habitat. Today, she has the keys to one of 30 Energy Star Certified, affordable homes.
In the fall of 2017, Habitat was awarded by the city a contract to develop affordable single-family homes on 30 vacant lots purchased as part of the Matthew Henson HOPE VI redevelopment project.
The new, affordable homes are under construction and available for low-income homebuyers in the Central City South area.
