​For 47 years, the Phoenix Convention Center has served the residents of Phoenix as a major economic driver for the state and local economies and for 47 years, Ernest Anderson has served Convention Center guests.
On Sept. 28, 1972 the Phoenix Convention Center opened its doors as the Phoenix Civic Plaza to welcome attendees for conventions, tradeshows and events. Today, the Phoenix Convention Center & Venues is among the 25 largest public meeting facilities in the U.S. and welcomes approximately 1M guests each year, hosting more than 500 events annually. On Sept. 11, 1972, Ernest Anderson began his career as a Civic Plaza worker and promoted through the ranks to retire as an Auditorium Supervisor. Ernest's love for the facility and people led him to continue working part-time as a Venue Host to welcome visitors from around the globe.
