Phoenix, AZ – Mayor Kate Gallego, Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari, Senator Flavio Bravo, Former Senator Steve Kaiser, and the International Rescue Committee are gathering to bring awareness to the remaining American Rescue Act Plan funding available to Phoenix’s refugee community and promote the SB 1563, the New American Study Committee.
“Phoenix is the fastest growing city in the United States, and refugees have been integral to us becoming a stronger, more diverse community. I’m proud that we are a city known for our warm welcome, and we will continue to work diligently with local and state partners to provide refugees the support they need to settle into their lives and find success in our community,” said Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego.
With the support of newly arriving refugee advocates and refugee-serving nonprofits, the City of Phoenix allocated $8.3 million to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Arizona Immigration and Refugees Services, Catholic Charities Community Services, and Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest to help newly arrived residents settle in the Valley. These organizations still have funds available which can provide emergency assistance in the following areas: medical, dental, housing, immigration, legal services, transportation, and food.
