Gone but not forgotten, the story of Okemah - Black History Month

Once a thriving community of African American farm workers from Okemah, Oklahoma the Okemah neighborhood had its own school, church and businesses. Annexed by Phoenix in the 1960's and split in half by the construction of Interstate 10 the last residents had all left by the year 2000.
