September 10, 2024 12:00 AM
When the Monroe School was built 100 years ago, it was the most modern grade school in the United States. Designed to accommodate 800 students, it was also the largest elementary school west of the Mississippi. Today, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and since 2008, it has been home to the Children's Museum of Phoenix.
