The S'edav Va'aki Museum invites families to enjoy children's story time and hands-on crafts in this year's installment of Summer Storytime for Kids. This June, SVM will be offering two methods to join our summer storytime program. For $5.00 per child, families can visit us in-person at 10:00AM on June 8th and June 22nd for on-site storytime. The fee includes program admission, snacks, a fun story related craft, and free museum admission for the participating child.
SVM also has options for FREE Virtual storytimes on June 1st and June 29th. The links to each of the FREE videos will be available on the museum's website and through Activenet (https://apm.activecommunities.com/phoenix/Home). These free videos will only be available for three months. Crafts for these virtual sessions will also be available to order online through Activenet for $5.00 but will need to be picked up in-person at SVM.

Night Watchers, Nocturnal Creatures of North America

June 8th – [In-Person] Quincy the Quail and The Mysterious Egg by Barbara Renner.
While waiting for their chicks to hatch in their new nest Quincy the Quail and his mate, Quella, find a large mysterious egg next to their home. After solving the case of the mysterious egg, the quail covey make new friends with their desert neighbors. Program code #51040

June 29th – [Virtual] The Remarkable Story of Willie the Crow: A Hickory Doc's Tale by Linda Harkey
One day the Lazy Dog Hacienda pack meet Willie, a crow with bad eyesight. Featuring fun color illustrations, this children's story shares how a pack of hunting dogs and an extraordinary crow become friends and learn from one another. Program code #51082
Authors Biographies
Conrad J. Storad is an award- winning author and editor of more than 60 science and nature books for young readers. An accomplishes storyteller, Storad has “edu-trained" a more than 1 million students and teachers across the national with his programs and writing workshops that promote reading and science literacy.
Barbara Renner is a retired teacher who believes reading enhances an understanding of the world around us. As a classroom presenter, she reads her books and facilitates lessons to children of all ages.
Betsy Coffeen is an author, mom, philanthropist, and lifelong learner. She attended the University of Arizona, where she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology, and returned to school during the pandemic to finish her Master of Science degree in psychology from ASU.
Linda Harkey loves dogs and loves teaching children. Her experiences as a mother, schoolteacher, volunteer docent and hunting dog owner have inspired her to write the award-winning children's book series, Hickory Doc's Tales.

S'eḏav Va'aki Museum (formerly Pueblo Grande) is a 1,500-year-old archaeological site once inhabited by the Ancestral Sonoran Desert People. Voted a Phoenix Point of Pride and listed as a National Historic Landmark, the Museum offers two accessible interpretive trails on the prehistoric site. Visitors view a platform mound, ballcourt and irrigation canals. Indoor exhibits feature artifacts from the site and hands-on activities. The Museum provides preservation, education, and collaborative interpretation of the cultural history of the Phoenix area and is managed by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.
