Military Leave Time
Employees in Reserves or National Guard will be granted up to 30 shifts of paid leave every 2 consecutive military fiscal years so they can participate in weekend and annual drills without using their own personal leave time.
Position Preservation While Deployed
Employees returning from extended military leave will return to the position they would have held had they remained employed continuously.
GI Bill® Benefits
Phoenix Police Department is recognized through the US Department of Veteran Affairs as an Educational Institution that provides an on the job training program for new police officers. Under the provisions listed in the Montgomery GI Bill and Post 9/11 GI bill, employees that are veterans may receive the increased educational benefit and educational assistance allowance while attending the police academy and during field training.
Veterans who qualify for this benefit must be a sworn police officer having graduated the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy. This benefit will be paid to you through your one year probationary period in addition to your regular salary.
